Weekly Comp Report ending 29th January 2012
The vets on Thursday played the last of the summer stablefords with another great turnout for the Australia Day competition. Russell Gilchrist won the day with 40 points from Russell Deguara with 39 points. The ball run down went to 31 and the nearest the pin winners were No.8 Kay Craig and No.17 Kevin Christensen for the men and Kay Craig again for the ladies.
This Thursday will be the opening day for the vets which will also be the Presidents day and visitors and new members are most welcome.

It is also so with great sorrow to advise members and other golfers that Bruce McCubben passed away last Friday after an illness and our thoughts go out to his wife Gail and girls Lisa and Kylie.

Saturday the club played the last of their summer stablefords with Joshua Andersen winning the day with 40 points. A three way count back was required for the runner up with John Poroa winning from Andrew Roberts and Russell Gilchrist all with 37 points. The ball run down went to 34 and the nearest the pin winners were, No.3 Paul Mercer 1.3m, No.8 Brian Masters 4.3m, No.12 Michael McAuley 9.8m and No.17 Russell Gilchrist 3.5m. Next Saturday is the clubs opening day for the 2012 season and a 2 ball ambrose will be played sponsored by the President Tony Borg. The starters sheet for the day is in the clubhouse so get your names down by ringing the clubhouse on 4959 1277.

It is also the ladies opening day with a tee off at 9am.
The first of the Warehouse 4 ball ambrose competitions starts Sunday 26th February and as we are restricting the number of teams so get your nominations in now by contacting the club. $20 per player includes a BBQ lunch.

What a difference a week makes. Lots of sunshine, the golf course in superb condition and people smiling while they are teeing off.
The Thursday vets played a single stableford for their opening day with prizes donated by the vets president Herb Robke.
Our Patron John MacLean set the day in motion being the first to tee off and hitting the ball long and straight. Martin George won the day with a great 41 points winning by 5 shots from Peter Enfantie with 36 points. The ball run down went down to 29 points but as the course dries out I’m sure the scores will improve. The pin shots went to Jim Penny and Gwen Liddell on the 3rdand Kevin Christensen and Gwen Liddell on the 12th. Gavin Bean won the special presidents prize being nearest the pin in two shots on the par 4 13thhole. This Thursday is a 4 ball aggregate with secret partners.
Saturday was opening day for the club and a 4 ball Ambrose was played with President Tony Borg sponsoring the prizes in conjunction with Mark Flynn and Wade Bell.
Ross Jackson and Chris Blackburn won the day with 63.25 from Luke Wynhoven and Terry Ward with 65. There was a three way tie for 3rd, Gavin Leary and Dennis Paidley, Russell Gilchrist and Kathleen Lee and Neville and Wade Bell all with 66. The ball run down went to 67. The nearest the pins were No.3 Cameron Bell 0.41m, No.8 Matthew Botefuhr 1.10m, No.12 Terry Ward4.6m and No.17 Russell Gilchrist 1.23m. Nearest the pin in two shots on the eighteenth went to Chris Blackburn. This Saturday is the first Monthly medal of the season sponsored by Barry Beikoff and it is also the start of the eclectic with a $10 entry.

The rain won for the week making play impossible for the entire week so all opening days have been deferred until this week.
Today the ladies will play a 4BBB stableford sponsored by Andy Plait of the Coral Sands Motel.
On Thursday the Vets will play a 4BBB stableford with secret partners so they can find out who their friends are.
On Saturday it will be a 2 ball Ambrose sponsored by Tony Borg Wade Bell and Mark Flynn. Lets hope the rain stays away from the Pioneer Valley this week

Weekly Comp Report ending 19th February 2012
A full week of golf was held at the Pioneer Valley Golf Club and first up was the ladies on Tuesday who played a stableford aggregate with secret partners for their opening day. The winners were Yvonne Mallory and Sai Stiller with 62 points. The runners up were Gwen Liddell and Lorraine Killcullen with 54 points. The ball rundown went to 51 and the nearest the pins were won by Sai Stiller and Gwen Liddell. Today the ladies will play the February Monthly Medal.
On Thursday the Vets played an aggregate stableford with secret partners with Mel Wardrop the swinger winning with partner Martin George with 75 points. Mel also was runner up with Peter Enfantie with 74 points so luck does play a big part in golf. The ball run down went to 64 and the nearest the pin winners were Kevin Christensen and Elaine Rielly on No.3 and Wolfgang Weeken and Elaine Rielly on the 17th. It was a fantastic turn out of vets with visitors from MacKay and Blacks Springs. This Thursday the Vets will play the February Monthly Medal.
Saturday also saw a fantastic field for the first monthly medal of the season sponsored by Barry Biekoff with 5 visitors also joining in the field. Ross Donnelly won the Div.1 event with net 64 beating Rod Hargreaves by one shot with a net 65. Div.2 was won by newcomer from Victoria Kathy Lee on a count back from Terry Hanna both with net 70. Kathy is definitely one to watch as she adjusts to the tropical conditions. The ball run down went to 72 and the nearest the pin winners were No.3 Matt Chapman 2.32m, No.8 Tony Borg 1.55m, No.12 Anthony Blackburn 2.1m and No. 17 Chris Blackburn 0.71m. Peter Brittain had an eagle 3 on the 7th hole and Matt Chapman had an eagle 3 on the 16th hole. Next Saturday is a 4 ball aggregate stableford sponsored by Tony Crowley and Peter Ritchie.
Sunday is the first of the Warehouse Ambrose competitions for teams of 4 players. If you have not entered your team as yet get in now by contacting the club on 49591277. It is only $20 per player and this includes a BBQ lunch. Tee off is at 8am sharp and there is only room for another 2 or 3 teams.
